Dwarf Water Lettuce

Water lettuce(Pistia stratiotes) is an aquatic plant that floats on the water surface.  They are excellent for any water gardens or ponds.  They multiply quickly and grow up to about 2- 6 inches long depending on where you put them and the lighting conditions.  They have long roots which acts as filtration and helps prevent algae blooms.
 
Their extended roots can be used for spawning because they create the perfect hiding spots for small fry and other smaller fish species.
